From Jersey City to Japan: A Journey of Service and Love
William Koetter was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and his life took a significant turn when he joined the military. For five years, he served in Japan, where he found a passion for photography and photo development. It was during his
deployment that he met his future wife, Katsiku,. After the war, William returned to Jersey City, where he built a life around family and business. He has one son who has wonderful daughters who lives in Hilton New York.
A Self-Made Success and a Love for Community
Upon his return, William became the proud owner of a 20-unit building complex in Jersey City, which he managed entirely on his own. This self-sufficiency is a testament to his work ethic and dedication. His roots, values, and love for simple pleasures shine through in his favorite foods, such as Lebanon bologna, raisins, peanuts, and, in a nod to his father's heritage, potato pancakes.
Gardening, Healthy Living, and Life’s Simple Joys
William’s love for gardening is well known in the community. In the summer, his home is a vision of lush greenery, filled with fruit trees, especially cherry trees. His dedication to health and simplicity can be summed up in his personal motto: "Enough is as good as a feast." This philosophy reflects his belief in leading a healthy, uncomplicated life. He’s a man who stands by avoiding bad habits and cherishes the joys of a well-lived day.
